BARGAINING

All Contracts in the SCEA are settled.

Contracts expiring this summer are:
-Birch Run EA August 15
-Bridgeport EA August 31 – Transferring to 11A Coordinating Council
-Freeland ESP June 30 – Preliminary talks regarding what issues go on the table have begun.
-Saginaw ISD-ESP June 30 – A petition for election by the Steelworkers International Union has been filed with the MERC. A ballot will be mailed to each bargaining unit member on April 6. They must be received by MERC no later than April 20.
-Saginaw Twp EA July 31 - The PN Team is meeting and prioritizing issues bargaining is scheduled April 6, 20, 26, and May 5 & 18.

*Birch Run ESP is requesting transfer to the 11E Coordinating Council.

*Buena Vista EA’s request to transfer to the 11A Coordinating Council has been approved.

GRIEVANCES

Saginaw Twp EA – The grievance on improper placement on the salary schedule was granted. A number of teachers will be getting a pay increase.

Linda McLeod’s grievance regarding compensation for peer counseling has been tentatively scheduled for Sept 19. We are seeking an earlier date.

An association grievance seeking compensation for teachers providing instruction to a suspended student has been submitted for arbitration.

Saginaw ISD – The grievance of Beth Felton and Sonya De Graffenreid are scheduled for mediation Friday, March 4.

May 5: SCEA - 11B/E Office 4:30 pm

G. MEA Financial Services – Contact them if you want service.

H. Uniserv Director – Apr 7th at 5:00 @ Sullivans all locals invited to meet with Roger Kahn and have a representative there. New retirement seminar will be scheduled.

V. SCPAC
A. Lobby Day – Went well, best turn out ever – over 700 attended.
B. Legislative Council – Apr 7th meeting with Roger Kahn – see UD report

VI. Old Business
A. OPIE – Arrangements same as last year –at the Arrowwood on May 3, 05, 5-7pm.

VII. New Business
A. Region Elections – Held in March.
B. Birch Run ESP – Coordinating Council change to 11E Coordinating Council. Moved and passed.
