BARGAINING

Birch Run EA Scheduled for mediation January 17th.

Saginaw Twp EA Has a tentative Master Agreement thru 2007-2008, but with salary reopeners for 2006 and 2007.

Contracts expiring this year: Carrollton Parapros, Carrollton Custodial & Food Service, Reese ESP, Swan Valley EA, Swan Valley ESP.

GRIEVANCES

Saginaw Twp EA Katie Alderton’s grievance scheduled for hearing January 20, was postponed at her request.

STEOP The grievance regarding pay on delayed start days has been granted and the arbitration has been cancelled.

I. Meeting called to order at 4:34 PM

III. Approval of Minutes – Pat Freeman, TJ Peters add to attendance approved changes

IV. Reports

A. Secretary – No report

B. Treasurer - SVESP paid dues. Checking - $282.50. Savings $1080.15. Line 105 removed Image Grant

C. President – No report

D. MEA Board – No report

E. MESSA – No report

F. Locals STEA – Reached a tentative agreement

SVEA – Meeting at building level to set agenda

SVESP – Contract expires end of year

CEA – Hired new special ed teacher

Freeland – Hired art teacher

MEA Retired – No report

Uniserv Director – No Image Grant

V. SCPAC

A. Bob Blaine: Hemlock teacher 94th House Democratic candidate.

B. Dave Michelson:

1. 275,000 petitions turned in (met MEA’s goal)

2. 10 Republicans supported the MESSA and retirement bills

3. Defined benefit plan if eliminated will effect everyone, new teachers will not pay into retirement system

4. New session will consist of trying to work things out

5. Discussion of recommendations of endorsements of candidates for our next election

VI. Old Business

OPIE planning: changed date to May 10, 2006. Letters to be sent out next week to get nominations from locals

SVESP Conference Reimbursement: Approved to pay for conference

Image Grant – There is no money this year
