BARGAINING

Birch Run EA Bargaining continues on Dec 1 and 14.
Saginaw Twp EA Bargaining scheduled all day Dec 13. We are optimistic.
Contracts expiring in 2006: Carrollton Parapros, Carrollton Custodial/Food, Reese ESP, Swan Valley EA, Swan Valley ESP

GRIEVANCES

Saginaw Twp EA Katie Alderton’s grievance on involuntary transfer is scheduled for hearing January 20.

The issue of instruction for a suspended student has been resolved without hearing.

STEOP The hearing regarding delayed start days has been postponed pending settlement.

ATTENDANCE: Peter Tyson (STEA), Mark Kabobel (SVEA), Van Collins (MEA), Cheryl Revard (STEA), Nancy Nelson (STEA), Carolyn Nikolai (SVESP), Dave Adams (SVEA), Helen Schrems (SVPAC), Peggy McLellan (MEA Board)

I. Meeting called to order at 4:35 PM (Introductions)

II. Adoption of Agenda - Approved

III. Approval of Minutes – Corrected: Mark Kabobel elected treasurer-approved correction of Oct 6, 2005 minutes

IV. Reports

A. Secretary – No report

B. Treasurer - 1. Collected dues: FEA, STEOP, BREA, CEA, FESP, STEA

2. Monies $190 Checking, $1158.80 Savings

C. President – No report

D. MEA Board – Percentage dues based on previous years pay w/o extracurricular pay

E. MESSA – 1. Lost some locals

2. Discussed Senate Bills 895-898

3. Bills also are trying to make changes in retirement benefits

F. Locals STEA – Next bargaining meeting Dec 13

SV – Bargaining on contract
SVESP – Getting ready to bargain
Freeland – Contract is still in effect
BREA – Without Contract
Reese EA – Contract up this summer
MEA Retired – Representative not here.
Uniserv Director – 1. Region 11 Mtg Dec 5th at 6:00 pm.
 

2. Encourage members to fill vacancies for MEA especially support staff

3. Support Spelling Bee if Image Grant available. Motion to table appvd

V. SCPAC

A. Petition Drive Update- 230,000 signatures so far for petition drive. Goal is 300,000 250,000 will do it.

B. Legislative Council Meetings - Roger Kahn will meet with SCEA.

C. 94th State Rep Race - Bob Blaine could be a good candidate – need to look at candidates.

VI. Old Business

Constitution – Copies handed out- approved to accept

VII. New Business

OPIE Awards – We will continue awards. Monies come from local dues. Date set May 9, 06.

Bargaining Conf – 1. Feb 10-11, 2006

2. SVESP requested to be reimbursed for a conference attended tabled for discussion at next meeting.
